Meat Assistant

Part Time

Reporting to the Meat Department Head (or his/her delegates), the Meat Assistant is responsible to prepare various meat products in advance for customers to choose from. The position also needs to stock meat products onto the display cases in the sales area, follow FIFO concept, provide good service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Maintain inventory and product quality, follow FIFO concept; ensure full display of various meat products
2. Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage
3. Prepare various meat products for sales activities, including but not limited to cut, debone, slice, pack and label various meat products and display them in the display coolers
4. Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, friendly enthusiasm
5. Assist customers in selecting meat products and provide recommendations to them, as required
6. Maintain workplace cleanliness by washing, and ensure relevant work tools are clean and well-kept
7. Keep storage areas, display and walk-in coolers clean and tidy
8. Familiar with the location of various meat items; keep self-updated with all in Meat Department promotion activities
9. Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
1. Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays
2. Be prepared to stand a long time and to hands-on dealing with products and lifting of products of 40 pounds on a regular basis; able to use working related tools in a safe manner
3. Be prepared to work in low temperature (0-4 ), freezing temperature (-18), and wet environment for a long time
4. Not allergic to handling meat products
5. Able to communicate in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) an asset
6. Knowledge of basic work safety
7. Relevant experience in handling meat products is preferred
