Bakery Service Assistant

Part Time

Reporting to the Bakery Department Head (or his/her delegates), the Bakery Service Assistant is responsible to slice, cut, pack, label and prepare various Bakery (Bread, Cake and other Pastries) products in advance for customers to choose from. The position also needs to stock Bakery products onto the display cases in the sales area and display cooler, provide good customer service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Greet customers by providing good customer service with smile, friendly enthusiasm
2.. Assist customers in selecting Bakery products and provide recommendations to them, as required
3. Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
4. Slice, pack and prepare various Bakery (Bread, Cake and other Pastries) products, label them correctly and display them in the display areas and cases
5. Maintain workplace cleanliness by washing and maintain relevant work tools clean and well-kept
6. Keep product display full, attractive and neat, timely replenish inventory, if necessary
7. Follow procedures to verify and process expired bakery products and manage shrinkage
8. Receive products delivered, perform quality checking on products received and take customers' orders
8. Ensure daily sales and other checklists are properly completed
9. Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
1. Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays
2. Able to communicate in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) an asset
3. Be prepared to stand a long time and to hands-on dealing with products and lifting of products of 20 pounds on a regular basis
4. A good team player
5. Knowledge of basic work safety
6. Relevant experience and bakery product knowledge, display, promotion and packaging techniques preferred
